Singers Have More Violent Behavior Than Hip Hop Artists, Says Roma Mkatoliki
A Tanzanian hip hop artist living in the United States, a Roma, has broken his silence on what he described as a misconception attached to hip hop music.
Through his social media, Roma stressed that for years, society has viewed rappers as thugs and moral rebels without any real reason. His statement has sparked a heated debate about social attitudes, especially the difference in how society views hip hop artists and soft rockers.
Roma said rappers are civilized.
"And I don't know who told them this. The truth is that many of the rude behaviors are shared by singing artists. Most hip-hop artists are very civilized," he said.
Roma has explained that many singing artists smoke marijuana, drink alcohol, constantly change partners, and sing songs full of insults and sexual innuendos.
According to Roma Mkatoliki, most hip hop artists live lives based on family, honor, and morality. Most of them do not use alcohol or marijuana.
Roma cited examples of Nay wa Mitego, Nikki wa Pili, Kala Jeremiah, and Gnako. Furthermore, Roma said hip hop artists are the ones leading the way in taking leadership positions within the music industry and even in social movements.
"Most singers drink alcohol, unlike hip-hop artists. People like Nay, Nikki wa Pili, Kala I guess and G-Nako don't drink at all. Singers, many of their songs are full of swear words," Roma said.
